Welcome to January 2025!
January 2025 has arrived, bringing with it a whirlwind of emotions and a month unfortunately filled with illness for our family. I’ve had a lot of time this month to reflect on my yoga practice and classes, as well as the direction of my business for 2025. During this time, I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful for my journey.
25 years ago, I would have laughed in disbelief if you’d tell me I would be a Mom to three. The idea of being a yoga teacher would have seemed equally unbelievable. Life has a funny way of unfolding, doesn’t it? Here I am, married for 15 years and navigating the beautiful chaos of parenting three children. I have tremendous gratitude for the journey that has gotten me here.
2025 Reflections
This year, I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to be a yoga teacher. My 2024-2025 school schedule is completely filled and I am in two new schools this year. This has allowed me to expand my reach to approximately 600 more students, which seems unbelievable. Every time I teach, I am offered the opportunity to lead connection, mindfulness, and movement. How fortunate I am that I get to call this “work?”
Practicing what I preach
I emailed all of my clients a few weeks ago. I wanted to express my gratitude for their support during this school year. In the midst of crafting that message, an AI prompt caught my eye, offering to fine-tune my email. Curiosity got the best of me, and I clicked it, eager to see what insights it would suggest.
Little did I know I copied and pasted this into my drafted email. When I hit send, it surprised me by sending both paragraphs of essentially the same message. I haven’t stopped laughing about the irony of it all. Here I am, trying to convey my authentic gratitude, and technology presents me with a jumbled version of my thoughts.
My yoga practice has taught me authenticity, connection, and being human is messy. We practice falling on our mats, so we learn to gracefully get back up again. Despite feeling really silly for my email, I laughed at my human error. Just like the variations in my email, life is full of imperfections. It’s a reminder that, despite the chaos, we can find balance, gratitude, and get back up again in our journeys. This experience solidified for me why I teach yoga and I no longer spend my days on a computer.
Hoping your 2025 is filled with deep breaths, transformation and giving yourself grace. Here’s to embracing the unexpected and continuing to share the gift of yoga with my students!
